About the Chair

A general overview of the chair, its scope, and knowledge objectives.

The Faisal bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rajhi and His Parents Chair is a documentary knowledge initiative within the system of research and knowledge chairs at the Qpedia Global Encyclopedia. It aims to support the production of encyclopedic knowledge and to document humanitarian and charitable initiatives, as well as community achievements with developmental impact.

This Chair comes as an initiative of loyalty and filial devotion, bearing the name of Faisal bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rajhi and his parents. In its humanitarian context, it is connected to the biography of Sheikh Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Rajhi, may Allah have mercy on him, who was born in 1347 AH in Al Bukayriyah Governorate in the Qassim Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and was raised in a household known for faith, goodness, and generosity.

Sheikh Abdullah Al Rajhi, may Allah have mercy on him, began working in trade at the age of seventeen, until he became one of the most prominent businessmen in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and one of the founders of Al Rajhi Bank. His name was also associated with a number of major companies and projects in the agricultural and industrial sectors. He always attributed his success to the grace and guidance of Allah Almighty. Among his well-known sayings was: “What I have reached today is not due to my own effort or thinking, but by the grace of Allah.”

In 1430 AH, the license was issued for the Sheikh Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rajhi Charitable Foundation as a grant-making civil institution serving the community. The foundation focuses on supporting and funding charitable and developmental projects in the fields of the Holy Qur’an and the Prophetic Sunnah, calling to Allah, supporting scholars, community research and studies, charitable educational and medical institutions, and water-provision and food-distribution projects. It has since become an important pillar of charitable work in the Kingdom.

The Chair focuses on documenting topics related to the history of charitable work and the experiences of both institutional and individual giving. It also highlights inspiring models that have contributed to serving society and strengthening the values of solidarity and social responsibility. In addition, it documents initiatives and projects with positive impact in the fields of education, social development, and humanitarian work, providing organized knowledge content for researchers, readers, and interested audiences.

The Chair also supports the production of scientific and documentary content based on reliable sources and approved encyclopedic standards, in line with global practices in knowledge management and digital publishing. This contributes to enriching Arabic content and making trusted knowledge available in the fields of charitable work, community development, and influential biographies.

Furthermore, the Chair seeks to support encyclopedic articles and studies addressing topics of knowledge-based or humanitarian value, with a focus on highlighting successful experiences in giving, institutional work, and community service. This includes documenting impactful initiatives and leadership models that have contributed to serving society and creating sustainable impact in the lives of individuals and communities.

The Qpedia Global Encyclopedia affirms that this Chair represents a knowledge sponsorship initiative aimed at supporting the production and documentation of knowledge, without allowing such sponsorship to influence the encyclopedia’s editorial content. All published materials are subject to the approved editorial policies and scholarly review standards, and are prepared according to the principles of neutrality and editorial independence.

Through this model of knowledge chairs, the encyclopedia seeks to build knowledge partnerships with community initiatives and institutions that support knowledge. This contributes to developing Arabic content online and enhancing access to trusted knowledge for researchers, readers, and interested audiences. The Faisal bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rajhi and His Parents Chair stands as a model that reflects the integration of knowledge support and charitable work, while highlighting the humanitarian values associated with giving and community service within an organized encyclopedic knowledge framework.
